G Suite Add-on Privacy Policy
What to expect when you use my Google Sheets add-ons, as well as how they use your data.
Why is access to your documents needed?
My add-ons may need access to your Google documents and files in your Drive in order to function, even if the add-on only accesses the current document. My scripts and add-ons may request permission to access the full contents of users’ Google Drive or to view and manage all of a users’ spreadsheets, however this is typically because Apps Script offers me no workable alternative for a more limited scope. This access is required to allow actions performed or scheduled by the end user, and no data or the contents of users’ Drive files is ever transmitted to any third parties unless enabled through explicit interaction from the end user.

CSE Search
- This add-on implements custom functions to connect to Google Programmable Search Engine. Search terms within custom function calls, or referenced spreadsheet cells will be transmitted to Programmable Search Engine API for the purpose of returning search results within the current spreadsheet document.
- The API key used to access the custom search engines is stored only within the current document. It is only transmitted to Google when requesting search results. Only the final 5 characters are shown in the ‘set-up’ interface to indicate which API is in use in the current document.
- It is possible to pass an API key to the custom functions within a spreadsheet instead of using the document wide default key. At this point, anyone with access to the Sheets document may be able to collect, share, transfer, or disclose the API key elsewhere. This mechanism is provided as a convenience and it is the responsibility of the document owner to ensure the proper access control to the Sheets documents in which API keys are used in this way.
- API keys can be revoked through the Google Programmable Search Engine interface.
- When a search request is made, the transmitted data is then governed by Google’s privacy polices which must be separately agreed to by the user when they configure their custom search engine.
- Results from the Programmable Search Engine API are cached within Google Sheets using the Cache Service for a number of hours specified by the user. The default is 24 hours and the cache is document wide, such that any user accessing the document will see the same cached results.
- After the user-specified caching period is over (24 hours by default), the cached results are no longer retained within the current document, or anywhere at all.
- This add-on works only within documents it is enabled in. Information about its functionality can be found on the CSE Search project page.
Form Data for Jotform (previously ‘Jotform Data’)

- It is possible to pass an API key to the custom functions within a spreadsheet instead of using the document wide default key. At this point, anyone with access to the Sheets document may be able to collect, share, transfer, or disclose the API key elsewhere. - This add-on works only within documents it is enabled in. Information about its functionality can be found on the Form Data for Jotform project page.
Sheets to Reddit
- No Google user data is collected, shared, transferred, or disclosed by this application by default. Through explicit user interactions, users may share selected ranges of cells from the current document via markdown formatted text and reddit.com.
- The markdown formatted text must manually be copied by the user, at which point this add-on cannot be responsible for how it is then collected, shared, transferred, or disclosed.
- Sharing content to Reddit does not automatically publish it. The user is directed to a pre-filled post which they must edit and publish themselves. At this point, use of the content is no longer governed by the add-on, but by the privacy and data protection policies of reddit.com. The sharing permissions of the current document are not changed.
- There is no retention of Google user data by this add-on and thus no Google user data that can be deleted by this add-on. Data published to Reddit is governed by the policies of reddit.com and can be deleted through its separate mechanisms.
- This add-on works only within documents it is enabled in. Information about its functionality can be found on the Sheets to Reddit project page.
